University of Lethbridge has experienced a loss of a co-op team member in our Co-op/Career Bridge Office here at the Dhillon School of Business (University of Lethbridge). Our dear friend and Co-op Coordinator for the University of Lethbridge Calgary Campus, Doreen Kooy, unexpectedly passed away from complications that developed quickly following heart surgery on January 26th, 2019.
Doreen’s passion was her work with and for the students. Whether it was helping students to discover strengths, educating on resume/cover letter/interview skills, or providing guidance on career decision making and co-op work terms, Doreen made a true difference and impacted many lives. She will be fondly remembered for her caring heart, her dedication to her work, and her enthusiasm for sparking student enthusiasm for learning, life, and career. She will be deeply missed by us all, including students, her UofL Calgary and Lethbridge Campus colleagues, the Co-op/Career Bridge team, the Dhillon School of Business, as well as by the countless employers and students she has worked with over the years.
Since Doreen grew up in the Nobleford/Lethbridge area, where many of her family still reside, a memorial service has been scheduled in Lethbridge for Saturday, Feb. 2 at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, located at 260 McMaster Blvd. West at 1:00pm. In honour of Doreen, the U of L will lower its Lethbridge Campus flag over this weekend.
