Mitacs’s Business Strategy Internship pairs skilled undergraduate and graduate students (and soon college) with work terms in industry and not-for-profit organizations across Canada. The intern will provide expertise to industry partners that need assistance modifying their operations to adapt to the new economic reality created by COVID-19.
- The 4-month long internship/work term is valued at $10,000, in which Mitacs and the partner organization will each contribute $5,000 towards the award. Academic institutions can contribute funding to reduce the cost for the industry partner.
- Each project will require oversight from a supervisor at the partner organization and an academic supervisor or a point person appointed by the institution to oversee the work and the student.
- The academic institution will do a call for project proposals to promote the program to their student, professor and business networks and will collect applications.
- The student application will be reviewed twice. First, by the academic institution for quality and adherence to program objectives in accordance with the criteria provided by Mitacs. Once approved by the academic institution, Mitacs will review for eligibility and completeness.
