Reporting to the Associate Dean, Career Education & Co-curricular Learning, the Project Manager leads a multi-disciplinary project team and assists the Associate Dean to develop and implement Sheridan priorities and strategies for Work-Integrated Learning (WIL). The Project Manager is accountable for leading and coordinating institutional efforts to: develop a comprehensive framework for WIL at Sheridan; establish a Sheridan-wide employer relations and community partner relationships strategy; build a WIL Hub within Student Affairs; enact commitments related to provincial funding; identify and acquire a WIL technology solution; establish a community of practice for WIL practitioners; develop processes and strategy for employer promotion and outreach; design data, reporting mechanisms and a quality assurance framework; develop a sustainability and operations plan for WIL. The Project Manager conducts an audit of current WIL and Experiential Learning (EL) practices and programs across Sheridan and provides recommendations for risk management, documentation and standards.
- Managing projects and coordinating two pan-institutional strategic priorities: 1) development of a comprehensive framework for WIL and 2) establishing a Sheridan Community Partner/Employer Relationship Management Strategy;
- Supporting the AD and the WIL Project Team with project management oversight to establish a WIL Hub within Student Affairs that leverages partnerships with Co-operative Education and Career Services, while facilitating connections between faculty and community/industry partners;
- Tracking and enacting commitments related to provincial funding and providing a mid-year and final report;
- Identfying and acquiring software technology necessary to track, maintain and ensure quality and coordination of WIL and EL including: performing an institutional needs analysis; assessing technological solutions, in collaboration with IT; conducting the RFP and procurement process and piloting and implementing the technology;
- Developing supports and resources for faculty to support the development of curricular and co-curricular WIL/EL; participating on curriculum discussions and modifications, program review, and other quality assurance processes;
- Developing KPI metrics, and other data necessary to promote quality, sustainability and growth of WIL/EL;
- Performing other dutieis, projects and activities as required.
The successful candidate will possess a 4-year degree in Business, Education, or relevant field, along with 7 years of relevant professional experience, including work in the field of experiential learning (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience). Experience in post-secondary sector and a certificate (or completion of courses) in project management will be considered assets. The successful candidate will have: demonstrated experience in leading mid-large projects or initiatives with multiple stakeholders; project management skills with the ability to formulate, facilitate team progress and implement project plans to support objectives; knowledge of the theoretical, practical and pedagogical aspects of experiential education; knowledge of health and safety requirements for students engaging in experiential education; facilitation skills and ability to mobilize action, engage others and facilitate collaboration and results. Experience with report-writing, correspondence and presentations and ability to create clear, concise reports and recommendations regarding research findings is also necessary. Competencies will include organizational and planning skills, strong relationship building and outreach skills with ability to balance needs of multiple stakeholders. The successful candidate will also be innovative, flexible and adaptive; able to exercise high level of professionalism, discretion, diplomacy and tact; ability to maintain confidentiality; have strong critical thinking and analytical skills; be self-directed/resourceful; and have ability to influence and help find solutions to meet divergent and competing needs of stakeholders.
