The Program Manager will be primarily responsible for the successful co-ordination and delivery of the College’s ‘business career development program’ (BCDP) to approximately 3,200+ business students.  The BCDP will be a co-curricular degree requirement of the Bachelor of Commerce degree, designed to enhance and extend key management competencies (knowledge, skills and attitudes) and overall professionalism of Guelph’s business students.


The Program Manager will provide leadership for the co-curricular program, providing guidance to the Associate Dean (Academic) of the College, and act as a key representative of the College on matters related to business career development programming.  She/he will report to the Associate Dean (Academic), and work collaboratively with colleagues through the Business Career Curriculum Working Group, to develop and propose policies and procedures, and be responsible for the overall delivery and quality assurance of the business career development program.

The Program Manager will, as appropriate,  co-ordinate the delivery of the co-curricular program and support the delivery of career advising activities to business students across the four/five years of the BComm program.  This will also include working in collaboration with staff in the Co-operative Education & Career Services department to facilitate the delivery of CO-OP*1100 (or its equivalent); and support the completion, interpretation and tracking of various professional and vocational assessment tools as part of the professional development program.  The Program Manager will be someone who can work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends as activities demand, who is highly flexible and adept at working in a fluid work environment, where change and evolution is a constant.  As a member of the Business Career Development Centre team, and the Curriculum Working Group, the Program Manager will be expected to contribute to the effective functioning of the team and the Centre.

Requirements of this position include:  a master’s degree, preferably in business, I-O Psychology or Adult Education and five years relevant experience. Additional requirements include previous experience in leading, coaching, training, and mentoring of students.  Proven ability to manage, develop and coordinate educational programs, plus extraordinary communication, networking and project management skills are essential. Knowledge and experience of experiential learning, student engagement and working with multiple stakeholders are highly desirable. A willingness and ability to extend career development certifications as needed and appropriate as well as a valid Ontario “G” driver’s license or equivalent is mandatory for the position.
