We invite applications for Director, Experiential Learning and Career Development in the Student Affairs Office. This is a full-time term position for approximately three years.
Reporting to the vice-president, international and student affairs, this position will lead the development and integration of experiential learning and student career preparation at Mount Allison. The overall experiential learning framework will exemplify the University’s commitment to active, engaged, curricular and co-curricular learning with a personalized approach. The director will work in close collaboration with faculty, academic departments, and student affairs to form partnerships, leverage synergies, build on existing strengths, and create a model for University-wide participation in experiential learning. This will entail appreciative inquiry, reflection, transition, and co-operation.
The director will lead an office of two staff members to develop new opportunities, support and manage existing placements and processes, and assess effectiveness and outcomes. Collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and external partners will be essential. The director will liaise with community representatives and the NB Experiential Learning Steering Committee. The successful candidate will preferably have a master’s degree and experience in the field of liberal arts education. Substantial leadership experience in a post-secondary environment coupled with formal education in experiential learning or a related field is required. They must have demonstrated experience working with a broad spectrum of stakeholders. Exceptional interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships and leadership skills inspiring commitment, fostering innovation, and delivering results is required. The candidate must have a strategic, collaborative, energetic, and creative approach. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including in the area of cross-cultural communication, and demonstrated success in achieving excellence through measurable results is required. They must have experience with fund raising or preparing grant proposals. A passion for post-secondary education and the opportunity to play a leading role in shaping the story of this prestigious Canadian institution’s long history of providing high-quality education, academic programming, and extracurricular and experiential learning is required.
