Position Details

The Dhillon School of Business Co-operative Education Program invites applications for a Co-op Coordinator at the University of Lethbridge Calgary Campus, to begin work by June 1, 2019. This is a full-time, continuing position that will be located on the University of Lethbridge Calgary campus.

Reporting to the Manager of the Dhillon School of Business Co-operative Education Program, the incumbent will be responsible for providing direction, training, support, and work term monitoring to co-op students in the Dhillon School of Business Co-op program, on/from the Calgary Campus. This will also involve providing information and support to Co-op employers and stakeholders in the area. This position will include:
1) Providing workshop education and one-to-one assistance to co-op students entering the co-op program, in terms of cover letters, resumes, networking, and interviewing skills;
2) Providing co-op work term support and monitoring of students in active work term semesters located in the central and northern areas of Alberta, including conducting site visits with the student and employer;
3) Working closely and collaboratively with co-op team members and program administration on the Lethbridge Campus to ensure quality services to students and employers;
4) Working with the Manager of the Co-op Program to expand the number and breadth of co-op work opportunities available to students in the program; and
5) Other duties including program/database administrative activities, student recruitment activities, program marketing, and additional projects/activities as required.

Position Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an Undergraduate degree in a related field, preferably in Management/Business or Human Resources, with at least 1 year of related work experience. 
A suitable combination of experience and education may be considered. 
Preference will be given to candidates with a background in co-operative education programming, employment advising and/or career development, and previous experience at a post-secondary institution.

The Dhillon School of Business seeks candidates who show professional commitment and sensitivity to the needs of students. With that in mind, this position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with students of diverse backgrounds, experience, confidence, and employment readiness. 
The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with employers is also essential, including the ability to resolve work related issues that may occur in co-op work terms. 
The successful candidate will also possess excellent presentation/workshop facilitation skills and experience. 
Excellent communication, networking, problem solving, multi-tasking, analytical and organizational skills are also essential for this role, with good attention to detail.

Due to the nature and location of this position, the successful candidate must be able to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, at a distance from, yet ‘in sync with’, the rest of the co-op team at the Lethbridge Campus. 
The successful applicant will be service and solution oriented, with the ability to positively collaborate in a in a small team setting, maintaining effective working relationships with team members on both the Lethbridge and Calgary Campuses, Career Bridge colleagues, University staff and the general public.

Proven computer skills including efficient database operations and proficiency with Outlook, Word, and Excel will be required. Some travel (within Alberta) will also be required; thus all applicants must have a valid Canadian driver’s license and a personal vehicle for use within the city/area (mileage reimbursed).

The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
