CEWIL Webinar - ICTC's WIL Digital Program

posted on November 22, 2019

CEWIL Canada and the Information Communications Technology Council (ICTC) invite you and your colleagues to attend a webinar on ICTC’S WIL Digital Program.

The Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) is a not-for-profit national centre of expertise for the digital economy. ICTC is the trusted source for evidence-based policy advice, forward-looking research, and creative capacity building programs for the digital economy.

ICTC’s WIL Digital Program has been a great success since it first launched in 2017.  ICTC provides subsidies which allows companies to access new talent,  grow their business, and aid with the development of the future workforce. This also presents students with opportunities to work in places such as start-ups and SMEs who struggle to pay students but offer a great learning experience through the placement. One of the goals of the WIL program is to encourage employers to hire more students from underrepresented groups. Since 2017 ICTC has provided over 1,400 work integrated learning opportunities under WIL Digital with over 20% of the students being from underrepresented groups. Both employers and students shared their feedback about their experience and here’s what a few of them have stated:

“The experience exposed me to a well-functioning department, which relies on cooperation across teams. It has helped me understand the roles I can play in the workplace, and has helped make clear my goals for my future career”

“I had a lot of amazing coworkers who were always willing to help me fix problems, and suggest alternative ways of doing things. It helped me learn and grow as a developer, and I wouldn't have learned as much as I did without each and every one of them and WIL Digital as my employer could not afford to keep me without it!”

“Getting access to hungry, hardworking business & STEM students have been a huge help to our growing company. It is great to help these students develop skills, but also helpful to learn from this new generation of the workforce! Thank you Digital WIL for the opportunity.”

If you are interested in learning more, be sure to attend Wednesday, December 4th  from 1:00-2:00 EST.

Please note that the webinar is complimentary to members and non-members; however, registration is mandatory. Registration will close on December 3 at 5 PM EDT
