Abstract:
Employers and community partners who provide Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities have the potential to provide transformative and empowering career experiences for students. It is especially important for WIL students who experience marginalization to participate in workplaces where issues of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) can be addressed in meaningful ways. Doing so can be key to ensuring all WIL students are able to reach their full potentials. In this webinar, you will learn about a new CEWIL toolkit for employers and community partners that has been developed in collaboration with the SFU WIL EDI team. The goal of the project was to learn from diverse WIL students about their experiences and needs for just, equitable, and inclusive WIL experiences. The toolkit we are introducing is intended as a practical, action-orientated primer to assist employers and community members in advancing JEDI commitments and creating empowering experiences for WIL students who experience marginalization.
