Message from the CEWIL Board - May 2021

As the weather begins to warm up and as more Canadians receive vaccinations, we are beginning to see a glimmer of light on the horizon.  For some post-secondary institutions, plans are underway to welcome students, staff and Faculty back to campuses this fall.  For others, returning to normal may be a little farther off.  Regardless of where you are in the country, all of us can feel proud of the way our students, colleagues and employer partners have demonstrated resiliency and adapted to continue with WIL opportunities to build a future ready Canada. It is with renewed hope that we move towards a more normal academic year ahead.

The CEWIL Canada Board will be meeting at the end of this month to engage in strategic planning that will provide the framework for the Association over the next three years. We will reflect on lessons learned over the past year, focus on the collaborative efforts of all our partners, and look to leverage enhanced and new relationships to strengthen the Association’s mandate to create broader WIL opportunities for students across the country.

The iHub is continuing to seek applications from PSIs to continue its important work, expanding WIL in innovative formats across all provinces. The uptake has been extraordinary and we will soon be sharing testimonials of exciting projects happening nationally.  Regional Directors are available to support development of project proposals. Don’t hesitate to reach out for assistance.

Finally, please remember to upload your data into the CEWIL stats database for winter 2021. This information is critical to inform the advocacy work being done by CEWIL Canada.

Enjoy the sunshine, take time to smell the roses, and stay safe.
