About CEWIL Canada

Since 1973, CEWIL Canada members from post-secondary institutions across the country have worked in partnership to develop resources to promote the highest quality of post-secondary work-integrated learning programs. This is achieved through a national forum of professional WIL practitioners by establishing national standards and promoting the value of post-secondary work-integrated learning and by delivering opportunities for learning and sharing of best practices.

CEWIL Canada's mission is to build the capacity to develop future-ready students and graduates through quality work-integrated learning.

The CEWIL iHub

The CEWIL iHub will operate as a centre of expertise that provides grant-based funding to enable and promote curricular work-integrated learning (WIL) focusing primarily on four types of WIL:

  • applied research/industry projects
  • entrepreneurial WIL
  • field placements
  • service-learning WIL

The iHub supports the advancement of, and innovation in, these forms of WIL, extends access to WIL, and ensures WIL projects are delivered with appropriate quality and learning standards for students.

Post-secondary students throughout Canada have access to new, innovative work-integrated learning opportunities thanks to Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada and funding from the Government of Canada.

CEWIL has already accepted proposals for  over 15,000 WIL experiences!

A minimum of 40 per cent of the funded iHUB opportunities will be for underrepresented post-secondary students. That includes Indigenous students, racialized Canadians, persons with disabilities, women in STEM and newcomers.

All projects funded and overseen by iHUB will address one or more of the following key outcomes:

  • Expanding access to WIL opportunities, particularly for under-represented students;
  • Removing barriers for students to participate in work-integrated learning;
  • Leveraging technology to enhance programming or extend access, including the use of technology to support virtual or remote WIL experiences in response to COVID-19;
  • Innovating work-integrated learning through new partnerships and new models for curricular WIL.
